What is Plastic Surgery?
Aesthetic surgery is a medical discipline that includes surgical interventions to improve body shape, appearance and overall aesthetic appearance. Such surgical interventions are generally performed to increase individuals' self-confidence, increase their physical self-confidence, or correct changes that occur due to the natural aging process. Cosmetic surgery can involve different areas of the body and include minimally invasive procedures as well as surgical procedures.
Subfields of Aesthetic Surgery:
Facial Aesthetics: Facial aesthetics includes procedures performed to rejuvenate the facial area, clarify facial lines or provide balance. Procedures such as face lift, nose aesthetics, eyelid surgery, lip fillers can be given as examples of facial aesthetics.
Body Aesthetics: Body aesthetics covers procedures performed to correct or improve body shape. Procedures such as tummy tuck, liposuction (fat removal), breast aesthetics, butt lift can be cited as examples of body aesthetics. Breast Aesthetics: Breast aesthetics includes procedures performed to increase, decrease, shape or tighten breast size. Breast augmentation, breast lift and breast reduction fall into this category.
Skin Aesthetics: Skin aesthetics includes procedures such as skin rejuvenation, blemish treatment, wrinkle reduction and skin tone correction. Chemical peeling, laser treatments and botox are the most common skin aesthetic methods.
Genital Aesthetics: Genital aesthetics includes procedures performed to improve the appearance and function of the genital area. Procedures such as vaginoplasty and labiaplasty are examples of this field.
Plastic Surgery Process:
Consultation: The first step is an extensive discussion between the patient and the surgeon. The surgeon evaluates the patient's wishes and expectations, performs an examination and offers appropriate treatment options.
Planning: The surgeon creates a surgical plan in accordance with the patient's expectations and anatomy. Details of the procedure, recovery process and possible risks are explained to the patient.
Surgical Procedure: Surgical procedure may vary depending on the patient's health condition and the chosen procedure. The procedure can take place under local or general anesthesia.
Healing Process: The healing process begins after the procedure. Edema, swelling and mild pain are normal. It may take several weeks or even months for surgical results to be fully seen.
Results: As a result of plastic surgery, the desired appearance is usually achieved. However, each individual's body structure is different and the results may vary from person to person. As a result, plastic surgery is a medical discipline preferred by individuals to improve their appearance and feel better.
